I listen to a Denver Broncos podcast most days but usually not live I listen as a podcast after the fact so I decided to send in a comment and it got on air and they discussed it for a couple of minutes

Fast forward to 14 minutes.

Yep, why take a lateral flow test when we can have a family trip to the walk in Covid test centre in Winsford and get a PCR test each? Well Reagan tested positive this morning and was worried that she was going to get sick but we explained to her that she was already sick, the headache and lethargy she was feeling were the symptoms and probably the only thing she will endure. Mommy’s taste is disappearing and she is a bit up and down with other symptoms like lethargy and blocked or phlegmy sinuses which is good if that’s all she suffers, we just need to get through this as best we can. Lincoln’s lateral flow was negative when I got back from taking Billy for a walk and there didn’t seem any point me wasting a lateral flow test if we were all off to the walk in test centre to get a PCR done.

I know going to the store to stock up on food was not strictly what I should have done but while I had not tested positive technically I still could according to the rules so I got some supplies and then we all went to get tested. Reagan getting a positive test had the opposite affect on me it sort of took my mojo away and I spent the rest of the day lazing around not doing much really least of all skirting removal.

Apart from eating tea three of us sat and watched Stand by Me while Reagan sat in her room talking to her mates on her new tablet. The film had more grown up content than either Mommy or me remember but he did enjoy the film and it was just what I wanted to end today.

I haven’t mentioned last nights game because it didn’t go well losing 13 – 17 in Las Vegas even thought defensively we played great turning the ball over 3 times but offensively we managed 158 yards total and the lone touchdown came when Bradley Chubb intercepted Derek Carr and got the ball to the one yard line leaving the offense one yard for Devonte Williams to walk it in. The loss means mathematically our season is still alive but realistically we’re done and should be looking towards next season and in my opinion new coaching and hopefully a quarterback but the ownership is also changing in the spring which could complicate things. I am hoping the rumours about Peyton Manning being involved in the new ownership in some capacity because I think he would be good for the organisation. I am #DBFL win or lose!

Last nights game against the 1 – 10 Detroit Lions was a great game to play after the sad news Thursday morning that DT Demaryus Thomas had past away aged 33 from complications following a car crash last year. DT was a major part of the Denver offense for 9 years winning Superbowl 50 I always loved watching him play and although the Tebow to Thomas walk off touchdown in the 2012 AFC Playoff game against the Steelers is the most famous moment in an illustrious Bronco career, my favourite is called Peyton Manning’s record equalling 7th touchdown pass against the Ravens in the 2013 season opener. It was hailed as significant in Mannings career but without Thomas’s brilliance that short pass was a 3 yard gain but then Demaryius hit the burners and ran 78 yards for the touchdown. There is 9 years of on field memories but apparently off the field he was an incredible human being too…..

I said it was a great game to play because the Lions are a poor side decimated by injuries so not even Denver could lose this one and a big win would be a fitting tribute to #88 and they didn’t disappoint 38 – 10 which means at 7 – 6 in the AFC West we still have a chance at a wildcard spot in the playoffs? #GoBroncos

Having been bumped to Primetime, because the NFL thought it was a significant AFC West divisional game between The Broncos and The Chiefs, means I have an early start on a Monday morning to watch Primetime Sunday night football. So having made sure everyone was ready for Monday morning we all went to bed at 9pm and my alarm was set for 01:15

#KCvsDEN since 2015 has been very one sided in favour of Kansas and this morning was a winnable game up until the end of the third quarter but as it’s been all season Denver defense can stop a good offense but if the Broncos Offense can’t score either all 3 phases struggle and last night both the offense and special teams were awful both giving away the ball for scores and although we scored a garbage time touchdown that made 22 – 9 scoreline look respectable we are now 6 – 6 in the division and the post season is a possible not probable.

Primetime is easy if we win the tiredness doesn’t matter but when you go back to bed at 04:30 after plying so poorly and losing the day arrives fast and passes slowly. Anyway next week we play Detroit and I can’t wait, win or lose I love watching the Broncos #DBFL #GOBRONCOS

You could say I am obsessed…a bit? I know Jamie never thought she would move 4500miles to be with a man that is Broncos mad, but I absolutely love watching them play live. Yes it has to be live, because of the excitement and anticipation you get with live sport, if it’s already happened you might as well watch the highlights but there is a drawback if they play Prime Time that means a 01:30am kick off but at the moment that does not happen often you have to be considered good to play primetime .

So with all that said, as I write this, the Chiefs vs Broncos has been bumped to Primetime. So on Sunday my game day routine will be to go to bed at 8:30 and set my alarm for 1:20am to watch the match which barring overtime will finish around 5am then it’s back to bed for a couple of hours before getting up and starting work. To my eternal gratitude Jamie does respect my commitment and allows me a lot of grace on a gameday morning, which helps.

Last nights game against the Chargers ended 28 – 13 a great divisional win and sets up next week as a winner goes top of the AFC West my excitement is tempered by our Jekyll and Hyde season which has seen us win 3 lose 4 and then just about beating the Washington Football Team (one we should have won easily) followed by destroying the Dallas (maybe one everyone thought we would struggle against) and then annoyingly getting schooled the Eagles (one most said we would win easily?) So who knows which Broncos will turn up on Sunday either way I will be watching and hopefully silently cheering them on to a win!

Yesterdays blog “Me Time” was about what I like to do and this is exactly the same, this is what I like to do it makes me feel lots of feelings I don’t normally feel and mostly in a good way! I find it very difficult to be selfish to do something for me and although I would love my family to join in with my love of the Broncos, I also wouldn’t want my enjoyment ruined by them not being as interested as me.

The Broncos, because Jamie is from Denver, I have always loved the NFL I just needed a team. I am now #DBFL I remember Elway’s struggles in the 80s and the losses in Superbowls XXI, XXII and XXIV but missed the 90s and the XXXII & XXXIII Superbowl wins. I’ve watched the those games back but it was difficult to get the sense of relief and achievement for him and the franchise, after the fact, like I say “it’s always better live!”

Since 2007 I watched the team grow into a contender not realising what it takes to get over the line and win a Superbowl, from seeing Cutler play for Mike Shanaghan when I visited Jamie in Denver (alas on TV not at Mile High) to watching Orton at Wembley followed by Tebow time praying both could get us deep into the post season but apart from Tebow to Thomas against the Steelers we were nearly men.

Enter Peyton Manning, it wasn’t until he turned up that I realised how important a good quarterback is to a team, but to have a great HOF signal caller meant a very good Broncos team by default became a record breaking Superbowl contender and barring an annoying defeat by the Ravens 2013 and an even more frustrating defeat by the Seahawks in Superbowl XLVIII it was a fantastic time to watch the Broncos culminating in #SB50 a 24-10 win over the Panthers. This will always be one of my all time favourite memories it just made me feel so happy and still does!

Since then the team has lacked a quarterback that can push them to the next level but the team has also been in transition too but I believe the team is almost there again on both sides of the ball and although Teddy Bridgewater is ok we need inspiration…? George Paton might be the key at general manager and hopefully he can either draft a quarterback or get an elite one without mortgaging the next 5 years acquiring one! Time will tell and I will be watching whatever the direction is!

Anyway #GOBRONCOS
