Got up at 08:10 Jamie and Reagan still asleep so I went down stairs to put a pot of coffee on and returned to a waking Reagan and began to sort her out into a dry nappy and then we went to wake mommy. One thing I did notice when I went downstairs was HE’D BEEN! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYA!!!! So we spent a little family time in bed then went down to see what Santa had brought us!

I am so excited mom, that paper looks colourful and crinkly! |
We noticed that Pam had been trying to get in touch over night to wake her and use Skype so she could join in our Christmas morning so we made coffee and set the link up and by the time we did Grandpa Cliff had arrived home from work too so we opened our presents with Grandma and Grandpa watching on. I thought that was almost as special as having them actually here with us and we were blessed with lots of gifts and Reagan had so many we didn’t open them all because she was overwhelmed with everything from the presents to the paper it came in and especially Grandma on telly that blew her mind I think.

“An Aba, what?” Mom Dad I’m in heaven! |
|
“Forget the instructions Ma, who’s pushing first you or Dad?” |
|
“So Auntie Em’s REALLY noisy toy I’ll play with that…..!” |
|
“No, I’ll play with the Aba’thingy…oh I can’t decide?” |
|
“I need to chill and drink some milk and access this situation” |
So with the house a complete disaster it was time to go get me Mum who was our guest for the whole day when she arrived she had even more presents OMG why are we so lucky to have so many thing to open on Christmas day! We began opening presents again and I am not even going to try to say how much we got when there are people in the world who got nothing but I would like to THANK everyone who thought about us, we feel very blessed.

“Thanks Nannie, I can shake this , hit them and smack the drum” “YAY Noise Noise Noise makes my world go round!!!” |
|
“that Aba’whatjammathingy is ace mom!” |
|
Nap time with Nannie! |
Nannie then played with Reagan and got her to take a nap while Jamie and I made dinner which was: Breaded mushrooms with a light salad and garlic mayonnaise dip to start followed by a Prime Rib beef dinner based on Grandma’s recipe with Mommy’s special touches. We sat down at around 3 to the best food piled on to our plates my starter was good but the Prime Rib was out of this world, well done Jamie

Reagan in her Christmas crown from her cracker. |
Reagan over the last couple of days has got closer and closer to being mobile on all fours and the fact that she is so close is frustrating for her and has a tantrum when she realises she is getting nowhere but not as big of a tantrum if you offer you your fingers for support and allow her to walk which is easily her favourite thing to do just at the moment then stop and put her down…..she explodes in to tears and screaming and can carry on for ages but we have to let her cry otherwise we would be walking her ALL day and she would think crying gets her, her own way.
We played with Reagan for the rest of the day and she was the happiest little girl in the world!
Pudding later in the day was mums trifle and Jamies cheesecake both favouites of mine but tricky to get down after the over indulgance of earlier but opening my second bottle of wine was helping proceedings. All too quickly though it was bedtime for Reagan and me mum decided help which I think was the first time she’d taken part in bath and bedtime which was nice.
Once Reagan was asleep we said our goodbyes and I walked me mum home the mile to her house and back using it to walk Jack who hadn’t been for a walk all day I told mum I had absolutely loved having her over for Christmas Day and somewhat selfishly it was nice to have her to ourselves for the whole day. Both Jamie and Reagan loved it and it was the first time in 40 years I felt I was giving her a Christmas instead of the other way around. I think she liked what I said because she teared up as I walked away from her to return home.
On returning home we sat and opened our 3rd bottle of wine each and watched Royle Family then, as it was another of her presents we watched Sex in the City 2 during which Jamie got up and admitted to being “a bit wobbly” I unfortunately bypassed the wobbly stage and fell asleep halfway through the film thus ending our Christmas Day which I think was one of the BEST I ever had and it was such a treat to watch Reagan experience her first Christmas even though it was probably just another day in her head.
Thank you Jamie for making my Christmas special!
