Night 3 went well with everyone again getting a bit more sleep but Lincoln still feeds every hour or so and is difficult to wind meaning its still all Jamie during the night but we do sleep between feeds so its nice to be able to take him downstairs around 7am and allow Jamie some quality bed time.

All in all I think it was better again than last night?

Sat here on the sofa at 06:15 with a sleeping Lincoln in my arms you might be forgiven for thinking last night didn’t go too well…? It’s still early (if you’ll excuse the pun) but it’s very much down to Jamie to feed him and because she is right next to him try and settle him afterwards which means although we are both awake a lot, Jamie needs an hour or two to recharge so I have “taken one for the team” and come downstairs with him.

Ironically I fed him a bottle of mommy’s milk and he has slept for an hour why couldn’t he have done that when we were in bed lol

I think a growth spurt is hampering any chance of prolonged sleep just at the moment but we will keep going and hopefully have him trained before his feet are hanging out of one end of the basket and his out of the other lol!

Lincoln went to the Salinae Centre today and he now weighs 11lbs 9.5oz a gain of 9.5oz WELL DONE Mommy! Midwife comment today was “Your producing some good stuff there Jamie!”

Lincoln weight history:

27 Oct 2011 – 11lbs 9.5oz
20 Oct 2011 – 11lbs 0oz
13 Oct 2011 – 10lbs 7oz
06 Oct 2011 – 9lbs 6oz
27 Sep 2011 – 8lbs 8oz
17 Sep 2011 – 8lbs 11.5oz

Its not really a routine but after seeing the health visitor today wewere told not to let Lincoln rule our lives and to start ruling his. We know that is not going to be easy but she is right we need to get him sleeping upstairs and we need to sleep in the same bed again.

So last night we went to bed at 11 Lincoln in his moses basket next us in our bed and although it wasn’t the greatest nights sleep any of us has had ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’ but at least we have started to change our ways and tonight will be better I’m sure, we will see!

Got the boiler fixed today it was the pump apparently so we now have heating again just in time for the cold weather to come in. Just waiting for the bill now 🙁

Last night we tried Lincoln on Infant Gaviscon and all evening he was a little angel, sleeping in his swing chair and Mommy and I even had time to sit and snuggle on the sofa for a while before bedtime. Unfortunately bedtime didn’t go quite how we planned because we thought it was time he slept upstairs with us and then we can both sleep in bed at the same time too. The minute we tried to bed down he started screaming and would not be quiet so we went downstairs again only for him to feed and go to sleep so we went back to bed and although that is where we stayed until 5ish non of us got much sleep because he wanted a feed every hour…

We are not defeated though we will try again tonight but as Jamie pointed out we are nearing a 6 week growth spurt and he is probably trying to buildup her supply! The jury is out on the benefit of Gaviscon but initial indications were good?

I decided to take the kids for a walk this morning because I wanted to try doing it with both kids for the first time. Also it would give mommy a well deserved break from both of them at the same time which I think she needed.

I pushed Reagan and wore Lincoln and we walked our usual route along the canal into town then down to Croxton Lane and back along the canal home. We had just passed Newton Brewery when Reagan started moaning and pointing and when I asked her what was wrong she point at the park we had just passed LOL. I was oblivious to the park but Reagan was alert and was not going to let it go without a fight…

We spent half an hour playing on the park and Reagan LOVED IT!!!

The morning after the night before, when I have never seen Lincoln so bad when he just would not stop screaming he was a lot better and I got to sit and chat to him and play with him and get some good photo’s too…

Colic or Reflux that is question. The answer is irrelevant! Lincoln is uncomfortable all the time mommy and daddy would do anything to change or relieve the situation but there is nothing we aren’t already doing that will help. We have not had a good nights sleep since he was born just trying to make him comfortable and today he is so bad we called NHS Direct and the Midwives in hope that they would tell us what to do but all we got was bullshit from the first and your doing everything right from the second?

All we know is Lincoln is in real pain right now and screaming the house down and we don’t know what to do? Eventually after 3 hours of passing him back and forth taking turns to try and ease his pain mommy tries cooled kettle water and he falls asleep in my arms and we both just breath a sigh of relief.

We decide its only fair to both stay up with him and take turns helping him so as he is asleep in my arms I just shut my eyes too and mommy beds down on the sofa. I wake after 2 hours with Lincoln still asleep so I pass him to Mommy and she says to go to bed and she will call me if she needs me, as Reagan will need at least one of us with energy tomorrow.

At 7am I go down stairs to find mommy surprisingly alert and Lincoln awake and not screaming? What happened Jamie? She told me he slept most of the night only waking to feed a couple of times and apart from that it was a good night! They’d had breakfast and coffee was in the pot waiting for me…?

Whether it’s Colic or Reflux doesn’t really matter unless there is a cure all we can do is help him as much as we can until he grows out of it. What was interesting that from 8 until 11 we lived in the eye of the storm and it was horrendous not knowing when it would end but if he spends the evening suffering (if he has to suffer at all!!!) and he is comfortable for the other 21 hours we can cope with that!

Mommy will take him to Doctors tomorrow and discuss what’s going on and hopefully we might get some ideas or new a new releiver to try…?
