We saw the consultant paediatrician today and he said he believes Lincoln is a reflux baby and has changed his medicine from Ranitidine which we thought was working, to a more efficient medicine that does the same job and an additional medicine to speed up digestion so his milk doesn’t sit in his tummy as long.

When he said we need him on Domperidone I thought we might get expensive champagne on a free prescription but alas I’d mis heard him and a vintage Dom Perignon 6 times a day was not to be. Omeprazole is just hard to say…

We have started him on both and so far I am sceptical because we’ve seen the symptoms return and although Jamie is confident I am a little demoralised as I don’t want the old Lincoln back I want the happy fun Lincoln all the time.

Its early days so we will have to wait and see?

This is what happened today Jamie asked our new doctors surgery for a repeat prescription and they said, come down and see the doctor first? At Oaklands they would never have done that they would have been dismissive and just told her to drop a written request in to the surgery and don’t bother speaking to anyone because there is no need.

So she went to Acorns surgery and the doctor said she thought Lincoln may be on the wrong dosage so rang Oaklands to ask for the original prescription to be faxed over so she can sort out whether or not it needs to be changed, only to be told by the receptionists that they don’t do that sort of thing? Our doctor said: I have a sick baby that needs to be medicated put me through to the practice partner please!

Jamie and Lincoln were sent home to get the medicine bottle and dropper by the time they returned a fax had been sent and the doctor although annoyed was now aware of what had gone on since he was born and had a plan to continue with the medicine and see if she could get Lincoln’s referral brought forward

Later in the afternoon a phone call to Jamie from Acorns went like this: “are you sitting down Mrs Forster, your referal appointment at Leighton Hospital is now on Thursday!”

Why oh why can it not be like this all the time? He is 11 weeks old and needs help and all we want is for someone to listen, so it took changing doctors for someone to just take the time to try and help and the help is there….?

I loved watching the three of them and wanted share it with everyone, Reagan and Lincoln just LOVE their mommy!!!

This morning we watched a program about E.A.S.Y routine by Tracey Hogg (The baby whisperer) and a light came on for us just by watching a 30 minute show. It basically said there are more than one cry your baby gives out but at the moment you remedy them all with boob because it shuts him up. The thing is she was right!

So since yesterday dinnertime we have fed Lincoln, which is the ‘E’ Eat then we do an activity which is the ‘A’ Activity. This can be play during the day or just winding during the night. ‘S’ is for sleep and because activity came last it disassociates food with sleep and you pat to sleep which actually works

The ‘Y’ is your time and we are so amazed that we actually get some of that too although Reagan takes up most of it, we have actually made progress and its shown us the possibilities

Watch this space?

There is no way on earth I thought I would be writing this blog at 11 weeks 2 hours old but Lincoln actually rolled over today…yes thats what I said rolled over and mommy got it on video as I stood in the kitchen door way watching on!

We were more shocked about it than excited because we didn’t think that could happen at such a young age?

Anyway he did and here is the video to prove it
