2022

Reagan is at that age…and that age is 12 tomorrow, I know where has that time gone? Todays photo is what her Mom has spent weeks preparing and all night presenting to give her daughter the BEST 12th birthday she could give her.

Reagan is such a great child and she makes me proud everyday but occasionally she can forget just how much her mom loves her and doesn’t realise that her Mom would do anything and I mean ANYTHING to make her happy.

I hope one day that you get the opportunity read my blog and get to really know me and how I felt I hope its a great insight into me your dad, but most of all I hope one day you read this post and realise that you have the BEST mom in the whole world and the photo below makes you smile and think of her!

Happy Birthday little dude!!!

Started looking at the shed plans this week and realised that the price of wood is going to postpone the construction for a year. The price of wood probably won’t come down in that time but I am sure our financial situation will improve massively if we just stick to Jamie’s plan to snowball our way out of debt because that will stand us in good stead for the future!

I can dream that cost nothing and I can also draw the whole thing out which I just love to do and next year I’ll be ready in every way #shedlife

As Reagan reminds every couple of hours that it’s her birthday it reminds me how exciting birthdays are as a child and also things in general can be really exciting as a kid because it’s new or there are people that love you creating the excitement but as an adult things can loose their sparkle because it’s you that makes it exciting or creating the excitement unless you have someone who loves you enough and I think I have that surrounding me.

I get very excited about The Denver Broncos when they play even in the last torrid 6 years since winning Superbowl 50 when we have struggled without a franchise quarterback after Peyton Manning hung em up, the excitement has been shall we say sporadic…? This coming season is highly anticipated after we traded for Russell Wilson an elite quarterback and the Head Coach Nathaniel Hackett is a breath of fresh air and looks on paper like he is amassing a great team around #3 so when I was reminded tonight who we will be playing and where, I got excited. A couple of fixtures jump out straightaway first the Seahawks in Seattle where Russell Wilson played for 9 years that should be a great spectacle but the THE one has to be the Jags away…PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be in London that would be my dream come true.

So I am excited about the 12 May when they will announce the schedule and I can’t wait like Reagan can’t wait for Thursday

A really lovely day weather wise although cool when the clouds covered the sun Reagan was away on a sleep over so I dropped Lincoln and Mommy off at church and went to Northwich specifically to Screwfix (my favourite shop in all the world) to get some descent 7mm masonry bits after struggling yesterday with a blunted bit, but I went in Jamie’s car so I could call into the car wash on the way. The afternoon plan was to go to the Sandbach Transport Festival because Lincoln is quite interested in World War II at the moment and wanted to see the Spitfire they had as an exhibit and he managed to get right up close and personal and loved it.

The Spitfire is the reason we speak English, just a fabulous plane!

The main dilemma today was which car would we have if we could only take on home there was Mini 1275 GT, Vauxhall Viva, Land Rover, Morris 1100, Mercs, Volvo’s, kit cars and motorbikes to name a few but the final three were

  • Bentley Bentayga Speed from £190,000
  • Aston Martin Vantage V12 £265,000
  • RAM 1500 £47,000

Lincoln and Mommy both chose the RAM and I can see why, Lincoln sees the size and masculine look appealing and Mommy is reminded of home but I could not get over how good the Bentley looked and having read up on it when I got home I would choose it every time. The Vantage would be the second on my list because I have always thought that Aston make great sports cars but the Vantage is next level but the Bentley performance stats are on par with it which blows me away so the Bentley gets my vote.

Lincoln loved the Spitfire and said he loved today which makes the day great for me too!

Finally got a chance to use the saw today and I have to say its amazing how easy it was to use and how accurate you can be with it too. I am looking forward to using again because I am boring and this is what I like to do…

Lincoln has become interested in football over the last few days especially when we go for our evening walk to the green and as a family we have a kick about and he can show off what he knows from playing at school. His ball is the one we once found in the river when on the ‘balance walk’ during lockdown I think, it was falling apart with a lot of the leather panels missing and it was not pumped up properly but he loved kicking it against a wall or taking it to the green.

Last night as we always do we shout upstairs we are going for a walk does anyone want to come, and as always right now Lincoln stops what ever he is doing, even Xbox and runs down to find his football and off we went. We had the usual kick around and began to leave the green and as we did Lincoln and Mommy were still playing with Mommy trying to tackle the ball off him and eventually she succeeded right next to the school fence. I saw this and said just be careful here because it could go over the fence, just as I said this I turned around and Lincoln was in tears as the ball disappeared over the fence.

FFS I thought I just…

Mommy couldn’t enjoy her moment finally getting the ball off Lincoln because she had “DESTROYED” her little boys whole world and needed to put it right. We couldn’t get over the fence and we walked all around the school but it was all locked up, he was just so upset so Mommy went on Amazon and bought him a new ball… an orange ball!

Tonight we went to Friday night cricket practice the first one of the new season and right at the end Mommy said to Lincoln “Oh by the way your new ball arrived” the smile on his face was a picture I asked if this meant he was glad Mommy kicked the ball over the fence and he replied “No because that ball was the last thing left of the balance walk….” I loved the smile but really loved the fact that he associated the ball with a memory he treasures

#FAMILY

Reagan sat doing her French homework and it asked her to describe her parents in French, Mommy got: brown hair and green eyes which are indeed both factually correct. Daddy got: Fun, Generous and Chatty, I asked her to add hilarious too but she just rolled her eyes hehe.

I will take that description and would for the rest of my days if that is how Reagan always sees me, Mommy on the other hand was not so happy when she saw mine and felt she deserved a couple more adjectives and I do too like loving compassionate and clever…? I hope she always describes me in a positive way!

Tonight I sat with Reagan at teatime, Lincoln had finished cleared his plate grabbed some skittles and disappeared back up stairs, and she said Daddy have you heard about Johnny Depp being in court and how the woman has lied because her friend ratted her out? I had to say that although I knew he was in court I did not know why because I just do not watch the news. She continued to explain the case that Depp v his ex-wife Amber heard was falling apart because she is a liar and how she thinks Amber will lose because Johnny is not guilty and he’s great and this information was all gleaned from TikTok.

I loved the fact that she had formed this opinion and it took all my inner strength to tell her that she should be careful having opinions based on information from TikTok because the information might not be true and therefore it might just be someone else’s opinion and how my 52 years have conditioned me to be sceptical etc etc but I didn’t I was just fascinated and a little bit proud that I was sitting listening to my 11 year olds opinion on current affairs and with arguments about the subject and as I listened I just thought WOW this is my daughter and I could just burst with pride right now!

I also thought Oooooo Reagan loves Johnny kiss kiss Oooooo Reagan’s going marry him ner ner naner ner….but I also kept this to my self too!

No not Lincoln but Reagan she is growing up so fast and tonight wanted Mommy to show her how to shave her legs which Mommy jumped at the chance to do because Reagan wanted her and sometimes that is the furthest from Reagans mind when her world is revolving around her no-one else matters. Tonight Reagan needed Mommy and I think Mommy loved that?

Questions like: What do I do? How hard do I press? where all answered as Mommy showed our little girl how to do an adult thing…

I hope she can be a child for as long as possible but I see and hear her changing, growing up which is only natural to do but that childhood innocence, once that disappears it’s gone forever and you only realise that when it’s too late.

Don’t try to grow up too fast “baby girl” there’s a lifetime to be an adult and it ain’t as great as you think and DEFINATELY ain’t as good as being a child

It’s just funny it was then and is now!

I went to pick up my new saw today and was not disappointed, it is like new (sadly in a way) and I couldn’t be more pleased with it. I did a couple of checks as I had seen on a couple of YouTube videos but it was teatime and Jamie was working so I had to stick it in the shed probably until the weekend when I can hopefully set it up and do a few cuts with it, and finish off the skirtings at the bottom of the stairs!

A real beast of a saw!

Maybe this will help me build my workshop \ shed when I get around to that, it’s certainly overkill if all I do is cut 6 mitre joints in the skirtings at the bottom of the stairs hahaha but hey my old saw wasn’t used everyday but it was used regualrly and came in very handy over the years…
