2022

Lincoln actually played with Halle Orchestra at the the Bridgewater Hall Manchester, he likes the Saxophone and has stuck with it to the point that he got to do this amazing thing today. He want to give up the guitar even though he got a B+ for it this week but he prefers Sax so I have asked if I can have his guitar because I loved the little bit of progress I made when I tried it a couple of months ago. He makes me proud and I hope the saxophone keeps his interest and it is his way into loving music for his whole life!

To top a great day he went to Youth Club and learned CPR and the Hiemlich manoeuvre…all in a days work for our Linco

Went to get a load of wood this morning and used Jamie’s car because I couldn’t wait for a delivery next week and the weather has been so great this week I wanted to see if I could get the roof joists fitted so I could perhaps get it at least weather “resistant” so it does not get too wet. Anyway I loaded 14 3.6m lengths of 3x2s in the car at Howarths Timber in Northwich and drove home what I thought was slowly enough but went over a small bump and the windscreen split as one of the pieces bounced against it. I was so annoyed with myself because I didn’t need to have the wood straightaway I was just inpatient and now it’s cost me £105 and a Saturday morning getting it fixed.

Progress on the shed itself went well today I got all the roof joists made and learned a lot about my Dewalt saw and what it can do, like trench cutting and repetitive accurate angled cuts amongst other things I also noticed that the blade was damaged and likely I would benefit from a new blade and achieve better cuts too so that will be on the next Screwfix shopping list. I love woodwork and I am really enjoying this project and hope to actually get the roof done in the next couple of weeks to the point where I have waterproof membrane on top?

Reagan is noticeably growing up into a “teenager” she is so beautiful and takes care of her appearance with help an advice from her Mom The new thing at the moment is self tanning and both her and Mommy have applied it, but tonight Reagan applied some unsupervised to her face and I advised her to be careful because it won’t come off if you do it wrong, even though she’d done a good job I just don’t want her to have to live with a tanning mistake at school

Lincoln, if only you could see how upset your Mom is that she can’t come to watch you play with the Halle Orchestra tomorrow after successfully rearranging her whole day to allow her to go to Manchester only to find they had sold out the concert!

I have suggested that she calls the box office in the morning and asks if yhey have a ticket returned or a spare seat because she is desperate to be there for you. If she isn’t it will not be because she didn’t try everything she could!

She will pack your lunch I will take you to school and will tell you to shine bright and tell us all about when you get home buddy!

At 10am nothing happened I was supposed to get an email supplying a link to allow me to buy tickets to Wembley to see the Jaguars play the Broncos but nothing no email…panic set in, what do I do?

A note appeared on the Jags site saying there was a technical issue and the pre-sale ticket email will be sent out later, but we weren’t told when?

The email arrived at 1:10 as I sat there refreshing the inbox I saw it straightaway so I clicked and registered as it said to do but also said the tickets won’t go on sale until 3pm. Just after 2pm I thought I would try the ticket page and it let me in but in a queue, and there were only 4 people in front of me. I told Jamie, who had also registered and by the time she logged on to the page at 2:30ish she was 2686th in the queue.

At 3pm on the dot I was let on to the ticket site and tried to pick 3 seats and buy them but I could not see a basket and the seats expired Fuuuuuck! If I thought I was panicking at 10am I was sweating and my blood pressure was sky high now Jamie was now about to be let onto the site and needed to know whether she needed to buy tickets, I said no just wait because I adjusted the resolution of my browser window and spotted the basket icon top right and proceeded to buy 3 tickets in block 124 on the 40 yard line on the Broncos side of the field…

I pressed checkout and confirmed the purchase of 3 adult tickets (I did not get the option for a child ticket for Lincoln but by this time I just wanted to have 3 tickets) and it said congratulations you have bought 3 tickets for £445.52 slightly more than I had planned for but I am just glad I got tickets!

So a weekend in London with Jamie & Lincoln for a couple of days of self indulgence on my part and I get to watch the Broncos live for the first-time since 2009 but we don’t talk about that game…

Tomorrow tickets for the Broncos Jags at Wembley in October and I am excited to purchase tickets and confirm we are going to see them play but what if I don’t get tickets what if I’m not quick enough what if they sell out before I get through I am so nervous too.

Anyway tomorrow 10am they go on sale and I’m going to do my best to get 3 tickets because Reagan doesn’t want to spend 2 days ‘living’ football lol

I managed to get a bit more done on the shed adding the roof beam I need to get the roof trusses design right and then make eight of them but I am at a stage where I can protect the now upright structure if required (through the polythene over the beam)

Took Reagan to horse riding I love how excited and enthusiastic she is about riding, listening to her tell me her favourite things about it as we drove to Holmes Chapel

Lincoln had Cricket practice after school and when he got home was very hot and didn’t eat and by teatime he was past eating even though its what he needed so we got him to drink some water, gave him paracetamol and got him into bed, he was asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. Hopefully a good night’s sleep and loads of breakfast will see him right?

Today could not have started any better, breakfast in bed consisting of a bacon butty and a brew served by Reagan followed by Lincoln with thee best gift ever, an antique saw with “Dads Shed” painted onto the blade, oh and a £100 gift voucher for Howarth Timber

Perfect!

We then went to watch Mommy sing on the main FAB stage and she didn’t disapoint singing a solo beautifully even after being rudely interrupted and having to start the song again.

Spent yhe rest of the day building my shed and I mean literally the rest of the day from 12:30 until 21:15 when I ran out of screws lol

Thank you family for being mine and easily the best I could ever wish for!

Having got in late last night, well this morning at 1:15 it was a struggle getting out of bed but I had to go get the children from Nannies because she hadn’t planned to have them so it wasn’t fair to leave them there any longer than necessary.

I need to mention that when we got home the water was off and it was still until about 1pm today because of a burst water main in town so we were struggling to do the normal things we take for granted like bathing flushing and worst of all brew up was not possible.

The Middlewich FAB procession was due to start at 11:30 and Lincoln’s Youth Club were taking part so we all packed a pakpak and left the house for a few hours and forgot about it hoping it would be back on when we get back later.

After yesterday’s high 20s temperatures today was cooler but after the parade we went into the Labyrinth the church showpiece which I really think is impressive, a lot of work has gone into it and helped by local schools it qorth taking the time to go and see. After that we wandered down to the Big Lock where there was live music while we had a cup of coffee (217 days sober) It was great to see so many people out enjoying Middlewich and we saw lots of people we know to chat to.

Later on it unfortunately rained which kiboshed any chance of shed building so I am hopeful tomorrow is fine and I can get some walls up…fingers crossed!

Sat in the car at 11 oclock at night waiting for Jamie to arrive from London….in Birmingham was not how I saw today panning out?

On the hottest day of the year with the tempature around 28? I expected to be writing about Lincolns sports day. I watched all the year 4 5 & 6s try their best in sweltering heat, it was on the field so once Iocated Linc I was able to follow him and his class around and watch him have fun

Cricket was a big ask after such a hot sports day but both Lincoln and Reagan were keen to go so off we went. The temperature had cooled significantly so it was too bad although Reagan sat on the grass then rubbed her eyes and brought in a bad hay-fever reaction which meant her eyes swelled up.

We were supposed to go pick Mommy up from the station afterwards but she informed us that due to damaged overhead cabling she was stuck along with thousands of others in London. Her and 2 colleagues managed to get a packed sweaty train to Birmingham Moor Street and would arrive there at 23 15 but we’re not sure what they could do after that to get home, so I said I would meet them their and bring them home.

After dropping the children off at Nannies I set off to get them and found I couldn’t get on the M6 at Middlewich or Sandbach so had to drive to Stoke and get on the A500 and join the motorway from there but with plenty of time I didn’t stress just drove and here I am sat writing this blog watching the Birmingham nightlife pass by….

The following photo sums up, for me how Jamie feels about how her life is today with the freedom her new job gives her.

It is a selfie taken as she walked back to her hotel in Paddington, London it shows just how happy she is to be in city, she is a city girl by heart and the fact that this job requires her to travel down to London at least once a month is perfect to scratch that city itch she has from growing up in Denver.

I took the girl out of the city and thankfully we have made a great life together in ‘rural’ England but the city is definitely still in the girl!

I’m so proud of her!

With Jamie down in London I had to ask Nannie if she would babysit Reagan and Lincoln for a couple of hours, while I went to play pool. She gladly agreed to come over here knowing I wouldn’t be late and that both children are pretty easy now, but not quite old enough to leave on a school night when they need to be in bed at a certain time. They would probably be OK but I am not confident enough and that may be doing them a disservice because they are both good kids but I would not quite be able to relax if they didn’t have someone sit with them yet?

Nannie said on the way back to her house “Isn’t Reagan growing up, I can see she’s changing!” and “By goodness he can talk can’t he, I don’t think he was quiet all night, telling me about the play he’s in and stuff!” I smiled and agreed at how she pretty much summed both children up in a sentence each.

We lost at pool but I managed to win my frame in a 6 2 defeat…

With Jamie’s new job comes the need for her to work in practice occasionally and today we took her to Crewe railway station and dropped her off. She is off down to London to work a day at London Bridge and two days at Harley Street leaving us to fend for ourselves which I know we’ll do, it’s just easier when Mommy’s here.

Reagan went to the Dentist earlierand we knew it was to hear the plan for her teeth which she was told was 4 extractions and braces for the next 1 – 3 years, so I was concerned she maybe upset but by the time I got home she’d processed what the plan was and what it meant and she was fine.

Lincoln has been tired all week and is complaining that his eyes hurt which I know is tiredness and tonight I went to tell him that it was 9:15 and time for bed but athough he lay staring at the ceiling and answered me seconds later he was asleep so I left him to sleep, he can clean his teeth tomorrow.

So that’s it on me own sat watching TV a load a washing in because it’s going to be nice tomorrow and I thought I would get ahead of the game. A can of appletizer and bed is the an for the rest of the night…
