After working all day in the cool confines of my bedroom office on a day when outside the temperature was 31? I was desperate to get back out and at least finish the first half of my shed roof. I knew there was not much left to do but it was too late yesterday to do anymore and make sure Reagan and Lincoln were ready for school and the house needed a tidy too.

Tonight after collecting Reagan from horseriding and making their tea I was finally able to cut the last piece and screw it down before getting the tarp back over it and fitting it properly so that I don’t have to think about it and allow me to concentrate on the other end.

Long hot day

Easily the hottest day of the year reaching 27?c and not a cloud in the so I spent the day putting the roof on my shed, and boy it was tough going.

Although I only got 2 full sheets of OSB on it was satisfying to finally get them screwed down. I ran out of time to finish the house end of the shed roof but an hour more and it’ll be done and I can got the polythene tarp back on it, not that I’ll need it for a few days it looks like it’s going to be even hotter tomorrow?

Busy day

Started late having a lie in till 9 got cracking with a basket full of washing knowing such a nice day would dry the the lot. Cleaned the kitchen after breakfast then took the Billster for a walk before going outside to work on my shed, something I’d been looking forward to doing. I had to stop at 11:30 to take Lincoln to gymnastics and drop Reagan off at Mommy’s gymnasium so she could workout. After dinner I spent the rest of the day on my shed and was able to finish the walls, tomorrow I am hoping to at least finish is the the main roof trussing get them attached to the mai structure

Off to Spain

Mommy had the opportunity to go and see Keith her friend from Denver who is now living in Seville so she kissed Reagan and Lincoln goodnight as she would be leaving at 02:30 for the airport. Both children were upset that Mommy was leaving Lincoln cried and Reagan got up saying she can’t sleep and had to be settled back down.

When they got up though it was just another day the only difference was Mommy wasn’t here and they went to school came home as they always do and just got in with it.

Mommy has said it is 42?c or 106?f which means the can’t do alot after 2pm until it cools down after 9pm but from the pictures she has shown us it looks like she’s having a really great time.

Proud of Reagan

Reagan really seems to love learning and school she also seems to take it in her stride too. That said not everyone gets a gold award for learning but Reagan did today and that just proves how well she is doing and I am really proud of her!

Lincoln’s MHS visit

Today Lincoln went to the High School as a taster day and spent all day doing science French and PE amongst other things and it seemed to go well!

We all went this evening to hear a presentation from MHS including the head teacher and other representatives and he got to do little exercises in a few subjects afterwards as we walked around having a look at what was offered.

I think, like his sister, he will thrive when he eventually goes there after year six!

Weeks of work….?

Got some more wood delivered today and this should probably last me a while (famous last words) because it allows me to finish the ends so all the walls are complete and cover the roof.

Before the roof can be boarded I will need to make the gable overhangs for both ends which is quite a bit of work especially at the far end. I took a look tonight and was weighing up if I create and finish the gable overhang at this endI will be able to board half the roof and replace the tarp until I finish the other end.

The other end is a larger overhang and will need brackets at either side which can be temporary or RSJ’d until I create nice looking but structurally sound ones.

A lot of work and hopefully long enough to save up some more money…?

Back home

The drive home was uneventful and I arrived home to see Jamie briefly before she went to have a pedicure in town the kids were at school so after tidying away my bags and putting in the washing I brought home I went to do a bit on my shed and listen to the test match.

Reagan got home and loved on me but then went to her room until she wanted a lift to horseriding, Lincoln was already home when I returned the second time and Mommy had to ask him to come down which he did and he loved on me and as I sat on the sofa I realised I’d just slotted back into life and I just needed to get on with it….!

Hey-ho I wasn’t expecting a ticker tape welcome or a special meal by candlelight but I’d already realised that all I need to be happy is my family to be happy and they all were because I was home and just carried on, knowing I was home was enough for them to be happy and that’s ok by me too!

2 days away, not drinking!

I am laid here in the hotel after spending a weekend with the lads sober and I have enjoyed myself and proved it can be done. Everyone of them has chatted to me and everyone of them said they couldn’t do it, but everone of them say they are so impressed with what i am doing…
